Notes for Lorne Thomas STOREY

Twin brother of Herbert Charles Storey. Died of natural causes.

Established his own farm (SE Quarter of Section 27-3-7W) in autumn of 1915. Farmed there with a short break in the later stages of World War I. In late 1920’s, he rented the farm out and went to Calgary, where he met his future wife Cora. They got married and moved back to the farm, but the farm life didn’t agree with Cora, and they moved back to Calgary a year later, and rented the farm out again. The next 10 years were difficult for them, and when World War II broke out, he enlisted for the entire war. After the war, he joined the Corps of Commisionaires, and stayed with them until his retirement in the fall of 1968.

Birth date and place verified by Manitoba Vital Statistics record, although name is given as Thomas Lorne instead of the other way around.

He is living on his own in Pembina district, Manitoba, as a farmer, in the 1921 census.

He might be listed as a laborer in Pembina, with the Fred & Clara Miller family, in the 1926 census.
