Joined the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) in 1942, and served overseas. After he was discharged, he was accepted for flying duty with TCA and was still flying by 1978. He died of cancer of the kidney’s and bladder.

Death date confirmed by BC Vital Statistics record, although it lists the place as Saanichton. They are adjacent to each other, just north of Victoria on Vancouver Island.

His death certificate mentions that he was a retired airline pilot.
