Shorty worked at home with his brothers most of the time. On occasion he worked away from home, some times leaving the family to wonder about his whereabouts for months at a time. He finally homesteaded the NE 28-35-9-W2 and served as councillor for Division 6 for the years 1920-1922. In the early 1940’s he moved to NW 13-36-9-W2. In 1951 after working the winter in Alberta he sold his farm and moved to Spirit River, AB (north of Grande Prairie). He got married there, and farmed his wife’s land until his sudden death in Sept. 1961.

There is an Alvin Boyle living in Eagle Creek, Saskatchewan in the 1926 census, that is about the right age (and listed as a laborer) born in Manitoba (living with the Otto and Amanda Young family) that is likely him.
