Notes for Catherine SEALY

Some other notes state that she died in Wilberforce Township, ON, Canada.

Alternate spellings seen for her last name are SEALY or KEALY.

Got title to Henry’s farm March 28, 1876 (just under 2 months after he died). Sold 7/8 of the farm in 1882 to Edward “Ned”, her son, for $1000 and dower. Land resold March 30, 1888 to James Sutherland by Edward, his wife and Catherine.

Speculation from Clyde Lendrum (Boyle Bulletin #8):The Cealy’s were related to the Lett family in County Wexford and it is believed that the Cealy girls grandmother was Ann Lett, a sister of Charles Lett of Tincurry, County Wexford. Ann Lett married John Sealy and they lived in Bloomhill, Parish of Rathmacnee. John Sealy was murdered by English soldiers probably during the uprising of 1798. Ann Sealy was buried at Ballybremnan, Killinick in 1844 at the age of 86 years. We believe that John and Ann Sealy had four children: a son, name unknown, Lett Sealy who married a Mary Perry, Mary Sealy, and Elizabeth Sealy who married M. Jeffares. Ann Lett leasoned on May 10, 1790, from a Joshua Sutton, Duncormack Castle “for the life of Charles Lett and James Sealy”. The transaction was witnessed by William Let and William Goff. In 1797 Charles Lett purchases Sutton’s interest from a Rev. Abraham Dawson, middleman of the holding for 1300 pounds sterling.

Boyle Bulletin #11 - established her lineage... she was born in 1815.

Keeley is the spelling used on their son’s marriage record (Edward’s).
