Witnesses to marriage were William “Wee Willy” Macauley and Elizabeth Boyle. The ages and spellings are from the church records of Holy Trinity (and add a year to both Robert’s and Margaret’s ages compared to our records). (Boyle Bulletin #5)

Tombstone has birth date of June 26, 1850.

From Boyle BULLetin #11:A big,quiet man who lived at 166 Lang Street in Cobalt, ON, next door to his son and grandson (at 164). He was over 6 feet tall and weighed around 225 pounds. He was a hoistman at the JB-4 shaft of the LaRose mine and later as a semi-retired watchman at the main property. He moved to Cobalt in 1906, with his family following from Sault Ste. Marie in 1907. Before that, had worked at nickel mines in Copper Cliff, ON, with his brother Ned (Edward).

From Boyle Bulletin #16: Also worked up at Kipawa, Quebec. Drove team for the CPR railway when it came to North Bay in 1883. Robert and Maggie moved the family to Cache Bay around 1894 (70 miles west of North Bay). Maggies’s brothers family also moved to the same area. They lived here until just aftger their youngest child was born (Henrietta); they left in 1896.

Died in his sleep.

Barb Malchuk has his birth year as 1849.

Listed in 1851/1852 census as living in Renfrew County,Wilberforce township, page 1, Age 3 next birthday, which may mean Barb’s birth year is probably correct.

Living with his parents in Wilberforce in 1861 census.

Living with his parents and 3 siblings in Wilberforce in the 1871 census. He is listed as a farmer.

He is listed as a Stationary Engineer, in mining, on his death certificate. He was living in Cobalt since around 1907. He passed away from heart failure. His birthdate on his death certificate is listed as June 26, 1850, as signed by his son in law, Frank.
