Notes for John MCAULEY


Live in the Alice township in Ontario in the mid-late 1800’s. He and his family were victims of the Potato famine in Ireland. John had been a boot and shoe maker. After his wife and kids left for Canada to live with her brother during the famine in 1847, John stayed and worked for 2 years to earn enough to make his own passage to Canada. He was from around Dunseverick, near the Giant’s Causeway in northern Ireland at the time of their move to Canada.
