Notes for John Brownlee “Jack” BROWN

World War I veteran. Farming in Cartwright, MB at the time of his marriage. They moved to Winnipeg in the early 1940’s. He also became the president of Canadian Co-operative Implement Ltd, succeeding H.L. Fowler.

Jack is shown as “JB Brown” and his wife is shown as “Olga McNab Brown” in the 1921 census in Souris. There is a William Brown Sr. living with them, age 57, that is listed as a lodger, but I suspect is Jack’s father or uncle. There is also Willam Brown, who is 31, and was also listed (like Jack), as the head of the household. Jack is shown as having immigrated from Scotland in 1913 (William Jr. in 1911, and William Sr. in 1914). William Sr. is shown as retired, William Jr. and Jack are shown as “own farm”.
