His obituary (from the funeral service):

“Oswald Young was born on February 16, 1892 in Gajkowitz, Poland to Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Young. He was baptized in the Christian faith in 1892 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Piotrków, Poland. He was confirmed in the Christian faith in 1906 at the same church. On November 24, 1918 he was united in marriage to Klara Laenger. In 1927 they came to Canada and settled in the Lintlaw area, where farming was their way of life. He was a member of the former St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Margo and the present St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wadena. He did at his home in Wadena on December 2, 1976.

Oswald Young is survived by his wife, Klara, one son, Arnold of Margo; one daughter, Mrs. Ida Selch of Kuroki, three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Huml, Germany, Mrs. Olga Fulek of Lintlaw and Mrs. Vanda Skulba of Poland. There are 7 grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren. He will be missed by family and many friends.”

Pallbearers were: Leonard Ziola, William Malishewski, Leonard Gellert, Emil Markowski, William Franke, Alvin Ziola.

Oswald become a naturalized citizen (along with his two children, Arnold and Ida) on July 12, 1939.

Was known to use a puffer in his later years, although he continued smoking throughout this time. He collapsed at home in Wadena, SK, on Dec. 2, and his wife was unable to move him or get help in time to save him.
