“Bill had been failing rapidly for the three months before his death. His genial personality, and teasing, kind disposition endeared him to all who knew him. His fellow - workers termed him as “popular Bill”, and to the Doctors and nurses he was a model patient. Service was conducted by Rev. Doolan of Minnow Lake, in the chapel of the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, Sudbury. The body was taken by train to Pembroke and thence by hearse to the family home at Tramore. The funeral took place on Friday, July 14th, at 2 o’clock pm. The service was conducted by Rev. K.R.Cowan of Eganville. Pallbearers: 4 BIL - Philip, Peter, and Kenneth Boyle, David Anderson, and two cousins, Earl Foy, and John Foy. Flower bearers were nieces and nephews Gail Biggs, Jane Anderson, Orville and Rennie Boyle.”

Obituary:

WILLIAM HENRY FOY A miner at Frood since 1941 with the exception of the war years, William Henry Foy died in Copper Cliff Hospital Tuesday following a lengthy illness. he was 40 years old. Born at Tramore, Ont., where he was raised and educated, Mr. Foy left there for Iroquois Falls, as a lumberman. he came to Sudbury in 1941 as was employed at Frood Mine as a timberman by the International Nickel Company. Enlisting three years later, he served with the infantry until July, 1946, when he was discharged. In 1940 Mr. Foy married the former Mona L. Boyle and made his home at 345 Frood Rd. Surviving are his wife and two sons, Reid and Peter, at home; four sisters, Mrs E.R.Briscoe, or Pembroke, Mrs David Anderson of Powassan, Mrs Basil Briscoe, of Deacon, Ont., and Mrs Thomas Biggs, of Sudbury; and one brother, Norman, of Tramore. the body rested at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home until Wednesday night when it was taken by train to Killaloe. Funeral service and interment will take place at Tramore on Friday.
