Notes for Thomas Andrew “Rouge” STEVENSON


Listed as being 8 years old in the 1881 census for Wakefield, Ottawa,PQ (so born around 1872-1873).

Lived near Ottawa around 1900. Moved to Harris area soon after. Called Rouge because of his red hair and Irish temper.

There is a record of a Donald Stevenson and Janet Huber, in Francis, SK, having a daughter named Sylvia Huber Stevenson on Oct. 28, 1904, that may be a relative.

Listed in 1901 census for district Wright, Sub-district Wakefield as A. Thomas. Living with his wife and daughter (Alice Myrtle), as well as 1 sister (Jessie) and 2 brothers (Archibald & James).

Not in Saskatchewan in the 1906 census, so they must have moved to the Harris area between 1906 and 1911.

Listed in 1911 census living with his famiy in Battleford District, Sub-district 2, Township 32, page 21 (S24-32-13). All in the family are listed as born in Canada, of Irish descent. Thomas is listed as a farmer.
