Notes for Sharon Ann MCDONELL

Sharon’s obituary from the November 28, 2013 Saskatoon Star Phoenix:

Sharon Ann Boyle, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away at the age of 70 on November 24, 2013 in Suwanee, Georgia. Sharon was born on September 28, 1943. The only child of Robert Wilbur and Zoe Louise McDonell, she was raised on a farm in Grenfell before moving to the “big city” of Saskatoon where she graduated from Nutana Collegiate. In 1964, she married the love of her life, Wilfred James Boyle, in a tailored red dress that would come to symbolize her life: elegant, simple and distinctive. Throughout Wilfred’s long career with Massey Ferguson, Sharon built many life-long friendships around the world as the qunitessential hostess for the best parties and get-togethers. In 1975, Sharon and Wilfred welcomed their greatest treasure, their daughter Tara. Throughout the next 18 years, Sharon and Wilfred lived many places before moving to Duluth, GA in 1993, Learnington Spa, England in 1997, and finally returning to Suwanee, GA in 1998. Always independent, Sharon worked in the claims department of National Chiropractic Mutual Insurance, Atlanta Casualty Insurance, among others, and enjoyed working outside the home. Sharon was often referred to as a “gypsy” by her mother because she and Wilfred lived many places and had a love of wayfaring, a trait she (thankfully) passed to her daughter. Sharon was the heart and soul of her family, and all who were fortunate to be part of her life. She was a very familiar, friendly face as a volunteer at her grandson’s school, and will be missed by his classmates and school staff. Those who knew her will forever miss the many things that made Sharon one of a kind, including her generosity and warmth, insistence that all ladies wore slips, homemade cookies and tarts, enthusiasm for travel, ability to tell you the harsh truth in the sweetest words possible, need to always be on the go because she didn’t want to waste a minute of time, fierce committment to her family, meticulous planning of all activities so it was perfect, belief that Elvis was the King, and her independent, strong-willed spirit that was infectious. She leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Wilfred Boyle; daughter Tara Boyle; grandson Iain Madamba; son-in-law Aaron Madamba; sister-in-laws Wanda Manning, Judy Watson, and Edytha Barker; cousins Mariann Kerfoot, Bev Katz, Joyce Voss, and Marion Quirk; nieces Laura Manning, Cathrine Caldwell and Jordan Barker. Funeral services will be held at St. Columbia’s Episcopal Church, 939 James Burgess Road, Suwanee, Georgia on Wednesday, December 4 at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Sharon’s name to Susan G. Komen for the Cure at www.komen.org. Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be made at www.ingramfuneralhome.com.
