Thomas Boyle Family tree - and side branches

Notes for Adam HOLLEY

He lived on the SW 1/2, Lot 24, 4th Con., Albion Township until 1851. Lived on Lot 132 & 133, 3rd Con., Artemesia from 1852 on (he is listed there in the 1865-1866 Gazetteer & Directory of the County of Grey book by William Wye Smith (taken from assessment rolls for 1864)).

Some notes from Holley family tree website:May have been Empire Loyalist stock. There is some conjecture that his original last name spelling may have been Hawley, which means he would have settled into the Bathurst District before 1818, and in the Albion township in 1837.Conjecture (unproven) is that his parents were David Holley and Catherine Gindelsperger, and he may have had a sister Elizabeth.

A large portrait picture of him was in his daughter’s posession in Minnesota at one time, but no one knows what happened to it.

There is a land deed from 1834 that shows Adam and Sarah in Albion. It also mentions his deceased father John of Etobicoke.

In 1851 Albion Township, Peel County census, last name spelling is Holly for his whole family. His occupation was listed as miller.

There is also another Holly family in the same area (Patrick, born around 1806, his wife born around 1815, and their son, born around 1842), but I don’t think that they are related (different religion).

There is a small mention of his funeral in and 1892 Flesherton Advance newspaper that says:

“A memorial service, for the late Adam Holly, will be held in the Methodist church, Meaford Road, next Sabbath at 2:30 a.m”

(The time should be p.m., one would presume.)

He is listed in the 1871 census as Holly as well (listed as a 60 year old Wesleyan Methodist farmer, living in Artemesia, Grey South).
