In 1911 census for Ward 89, Toronto West, he is listed as being born in Mar 1839. Only their youngest daughter was still a home, but they did have 4 boarders living with them: Edith Teeter (b. Apr 1894), John McCauley (b. Apr 1887), Mable Hughes (b. 1885), and Henry Lever (b. Jun 1890) - who is probably Mary Ann’s nephew through (although I have his birth in Jun 1889 from elsewhere).
