Served overseas in the Engineers in World War II for almost 5 years. He inlisted in May, 1940, went overseas in June, 1940, and served in France, Belgium and Holland. He was within 3 miles of the German border when he left for Canada on February 9, 1945, and arrived back on Canadian soil on March 9, 1945.
