Notes for Miles Trenton MCCLYMONT

His obituary from the Narfasson’s Funeral Chapel website:

Memorial Service for Miles McClymont was held, Saturday, Feb. 9,2013 at 1:30 p.m. in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wadena, SK. Miles was welcomed into this world on January 2, 1961, as the New Year’s baby at Wadena Union Hospital to parents George and Willis McClymont. He grew up on the family farm with older brother James and younger sister Kari-Dale. Miles and James, along with childhood friends Bert, Gerald and Brian Nelson, kept busy being farm boys, and they still reminisce about how any bicycle frame or unattended motor was considered fair game for their many manufacturing projects. As teenagers, Miles and James began competing in snowmobile races and the family spent their winters attending races around the province. Miles started curling in high school and this became his passion for many years, curling weekly in the super league and local bonspiels. Throughout his teen years, Miles easy-going personality earned him the nickname “Smiley” which later transitioned to “MacGyver” for his ability to fix or build anything out of whatever was available, a talent passed on by his grandpa John and his dad George. In 1981, Miles married Maureen Ziola and in 1988 and 1992, two beautiful daughters, Jill and Denise, were born to make their family complete. Through the years, family memories were made with snowmobiling and wiener roasts, summer vacations to various parks, and spending time for many years at Fishing Lake, enjoying the laid-back days of lake life with friends. Miles will be remembered for his many artistic talents and his ability to create anything either out of steel or wood. He created a beautiful fairy tale playhouse for his girls and the ultimate test of his carpentry skills was a winter proj-ect of building a cedar strip canoe.Miles was always a quiet and patient man, and Jill remembers how Dad could always be counted on to come and pick her up and any of her friends who needed a ride no matter where they were, or what time it was, with no questions asked and no lectures. Denise remembers how they looked forward to watching all the major curling competitions and debating about who they each were cheering for. Being outnumbered by the females in his life, Miles was so excited to welcome Jill’s fiance Jason into the family. He now had another male to back him up and they enjoyed their time together out fishing on Rocky Lake, though he still complained that he ended up being the one filleting all of the fish!Miles loved becoming a grandfather and cherished his time with his two adorable grandsons, Ries and Grady. Grandpa and Ries shared a special bond right from the start and Grandpa had endless patience. While building an addition on Jill and Jason’s home, Ries helped Grandpa by handing him each nail one at a time with a, “Here you go, Papa.” Miles was equally excited when grandson Grady (in every way a “miniature” Miles) arrived and could always be counted on to babysit his boys whenever needed, and loved holding them on his knee and letting them steer the boat. Left to mourn and miss him are his wife Maureen; daughters, Jill (Jason LaJambe) and Denise; grandsons, Ries and Grady, all of The Pas, Man.; his mother Willis McClymont of Wadena; sister Kari-Dale (Cordell Rubisch) of Hud-son Bay; father- and mother-in-law, Leonard and Wanda Ziola of Wadena; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Danny and Donna Ziola, Stuart and Audrey Ziola, Carmen and Dale Slugoski, and families.Miles spent many hours taking pictures of sunsets over Rocky Lake, saying that each one was always different. May he continue to enjoy the sunsets and soar with the eagles. Those so wishing to make tokens of remembrance may do so to Ronald MacDonald House, Saskatoon, Sask.
