Lived in Toulouse, France. Worked in a mine in France. After the rest of the family moved to Canada, he moved to France to find work.

Richard came for an extended visit to see family in CAnada in 1960, staying the whole summer. Near the end of his vacation, he got violently sick, and when examined, it was discovered that he had terminal cancer. He returned to France, and passed away not too long after.
