There is another Owens buried on the same grave marker (John W. Owens, who died Oct. 28, 1925 aged 82) that may be a brother to William. He is listed as a farmer, age 40, in 1851 census.

Was appointed magistrate in 1850, and became a councillor and collector of taxes for Fitzroy.
