Went to Saskatchewan to work with Parker Boyle around 1918-1920. While there, he played around with a gun (that they thought didn’t work) with Parker’s son Charlie, and Bill accidentally shot himself in the hand, and carried the scar on it for the rest of his life.

Manitoba Vital Statistics birth record shows birth year as 1902, not 1903 (listed in RM of Stanley), and gave his middle name.
