1911 census shows living with parents, lists birth as Sep 1887. I think Sep. was accidentally copied from his brother (above him on the census list).

1916 census (taken June 14) shows him in Thompson (Lisgar district), in Manitoba, along with his wife May Violet, daugher Evelyn May, and a lodger named Henry Hodge. They are living near to his parents (Thomas and Martha Jane) family.

Barb has mention of him being called Herbert Stanley. This is from the Schedule A. of births for Pakenham. His birth was registered January 2, 1888.
