Notes for William Alexander Loyde “Loyde” LOWRY


Hamilton, his wife Alda, sons Howard and Loyde, and daughter Florence are living on the farm in the Pembina, Manitoba district in the 1921 census.

It is with sadness that the family of Loyde Lowry announce his passing on February 3, 2015 at Pembina-Manitou Health Centre. Loyde was raised on a farm at Darlingford, MB. He married Flora Rebecca White on October 12, 1940 and they farmed at Darlingford for more than 50 years. In 1991, they retired to Morden but Loyde continued to go back to the farm on a daily basis to help out and he worked there until he was well into his 80’s. He was active in the community where he enjoyed music, curling, playing cards, and square dancing. He was a member of the school board and a 4-H leader for a number of years. He enjoyed working with horses and he was a founding member of the Manitoba Morgan Horse Club. In Morden he was an active member of the Alliance Church and took part in activities at the Friendship Centre. He loved playing shuffleboard and he competed successfully in the Manitoba Senior Games. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be missed.He leaves to mourn his passing his daughters, Beth (Barry) Sundell of Holland, MB (Cory and Jewel, and Cam) and Linda Lowry of Weatherford, Texas as well as sons-in-law, Alex Sundell (Irene) of Virden, MB (Kimberly, Kris and Joy) and Robert Holenski (Alice) of Darlingford (Connor, Devon, Kayla and Tim). There are six great grandchildren: Mykayla, Jonathan, Bella, Elissia, Andi and Sienna. Loyde is survived by three sisters-in-law, Eunice McFee, Betty Mckenty and Mary Prough.Loyde was predeceased by his wife, Flora (2012), his son, Bruce (1964), daughters, Evelyne Sundell (2001) and Edith Holenski (2006), brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Mabel Lowry, Ross and Mary Lowry; sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence and Bill Davis and Isabelle and Doug Rombough; sister-in-law, Ester White and brothers-in-law, Bill and Bruce White.Funeral service was held on Monday February 9, 2015 at the Morden Alliance Church with interment at the Darlingford Cemetery. The family would also like to express their appreciation to Dr. Persson, Boundary Trails Health Centre, St. Claude Transitional Care and Manitou Healthcare Centre for their compassionate care and concern. Also a special thank you to the Home Care Staff who made it possible for Dad to be able to stay in his home until July of 2014.
