Notes for Martin FLATH

Moved to Canada with some of the kids in April 1914, from Muchynica, Poland. Came with Adolf and Ted (Teofil) (2 youngest sons) (all 3 are shown on a ship passenger arrival list from May, 1914 in Quebec City, Quebec), while Hugo, Pauline and Otto (who was conscripted into the Russian army by this time) and his wife stayed behind. His wife insisted on staying until Otto’s 2 year compulsory Army Service was done. Unfortunately, The Great War broke out, and he ended up in the Russian Army for 7 years. Mrs. Flath unfortunately got Typhoid fever right after the war ended, and passed away before being able to re-united with her family.

One brother also moved to Canada, and had at least one son Gus. This appears to be Julius.

In the 1921 census, he and his son Adolph live on Section 14, Twp 42, Rg 10, W3 meridian.

Martin became a naturalized Canadian citizen on June 12, 1924.
