Notes for John SPRUNG

John’s family appears to be in the Cramahe area in the now-defunct Newcastle district in the 1842 cenus (this is a little west of Hillier). Can’t verify since the 1842 census only shows the head of the household. If this is him, he may have siblings/parents living in the same area (“Benj”, short for Benjamin, I presume).

There is another family of Sprungs living next door in the 1852 census (William and Jane, with daughter Sarah E.) that may be a brother. This is in the Hillier township, Prince Edward County of Canada West (Ontario).

It appears that John and his family moved a few hundred miles west (from Hillier to Hullett) between the 1852 and 1871 censuses.

The family (Fitzallen is married and next door with his eldest son) is living in Hullett, Ontario at the time of the 1871 census (Hullett is just east of the southern portion of Lake Huron).
