Notes for James PRITCHARD

The family immigrated to Canada in the early 1830’s to Alcove, PQ (30 km north of Ottawa along the Gatineau River). Their daughter Mary and her husband had came to Canada earlier, in 1829. By 1834, they were in the Wakefield area.

A family tree for this family is available online at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~pritchards/history.htm

In the 1842 census for Wakefield, James is shown as a farmer, with 5 people living in the home. The census was signed and certified by William Grimes on November 29, 1842.

James is still in Wakefield in the 1851 census, listed as a farmer.

By the 1871 census, he is living with Thomas and Ann (his daughter) Stevenson’s family in Wakefield.
