Notes for Judith STEVENSON

Obituary for James Stevenson and Judith Robb (nee Stevenson) - Wakefield area newspaper, Feb. 1928.

Impressive Tribute to Pioneer Wakefield Residents

A most impressive serve and fitting tribute to the memory of the late James Stevenson and his sister, Mrs. Judith Robb, who both passed away on Tuesday at the family home in Wakefield, at the agesof 90 and 79 respectively, was held yesterday afternoon in the United Church, Wakefield, in charge of Rev. A. Wilkinson, pastor of Wakefield United church, hosted by Rev. Robert Gamble of Ottawa. Rev. Mr. Gamble mentioned feelingly that the late Mr. Stevenson had been an elder of the Wakefield Presbyterian church 44 years ago when he had been inducted as its pastor and that with the passing of Mr. Stevenson the last elder of that church had gone. He spoke fittingly of the high esteem in which the late Mr. Stevenson had been held by the community as a whole, and spoke of Mr. Stevenson’s late sitter, Mrs. Robb, as another great loss to the neighbourhood. The funeral of the late Mrs. Judith Robb was held ??? the United Church to Wakefield Cemetery yesterday afternoon. The remains of the ate Mr. Stevenson will be conveyed to Ottawa on Thursday morning, where the funeral will take place from the Union station at 10:30 to Believeau cemetery, Aylmer Road. Among the many lovely floral offerings received from friends and relatives by the bereaved family, were a spray to the late Mrs. Robb from the Ladies Aid of Wakefield United Church, and a wreath to the late Mr. Stevenson from the congregation of Wakefield United Church. The chief mourners were: Three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Chamberlain, Mrs. Mary Shouldis and Mrs. Annie Emond (sic).
