Listed as being 40 and a farmer in 1891 census, living not far from his parents. He is married and has a daughter by this time (Fitzroy, taken April 15, 1891, page 18).

In 1901 census, he is listed as being born in 1847, but the family has moved to the Muskoka/Parry Sound district (Himsworth T-1, page 18).
