From his nephew’s (Elmer Howard) family history:

Samuel was a farmer living in Artemesia when he married Agnes. Witnesses were C.A. Weber and Jessie McPhail, both of Artemesia.

Samuel married Aggie McDougal and. settled on the old homestead where he was born. They had a family of boys, I am not familiar with their names, but they are all settled not far from the old home. Samuel was also an Orangeman and attained the rank of County Master while quite a young man. He was a good farmer and stockman. He died in his sixties. He had never been strong like George. At the time of writing (March 1960), Aunt Aggie his widow is still living on the old homestead, the last of that generation of the Bowles family.
