Hintze, Lorne Ira February 2, 1921 January 29, 2008 Lorne passed away peacefully at the West Vancouver Care Centre. He leaves his loving wife, Dorothy (nee Anderson); his sister, Pearl Louise Hintze (Norris Michaelson); daughter, Loreen Howarth; step-children, Edytha Barker, Judy (Dan) Watson, Wanda Manning, Wilfred (Sharon) Boyle; grandchildren, Scott, Mark and Wade McMurchy, Christina (Stephen) Lemke, Katarina Howarth, Tara (Aaron Madamba) Boyle, Laura Manning, Cathrine and Andrew Caldwell and Jordan and Nina Barker. He is also survived by his first wife, Evelyn Byrnes (nee Olafson). Lorne was predeceased by his son, William Louis; sister, Ruth Brown and son-in-law, Neil Howarth. Lorne was born in Houghton, SK and farmed at Houghton and later Plato until 1976; he was very involved in the Pork Council of Saskatchewan while raising purebred Yorkshire pigs. Lorne joined AA in 1953 and was instrumental in the growth of the program in Saskatchewan. Lorne’s second career was in real estate sales until he moved to Vancouver in 1983. Here he worked with his wife Dorothy managing several different apartment buildings until a few years before his death. A Memorial Service will take place on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. from Highlands United Church, 3255 Edgemont Blvd, North Vancouver, BC. A very special thanks to all the staff at the West Vancouver Care Centre for all their care and attention during Lorne’s stay.
