Immigrated with his young family to Canada in 1825. His obituary read:

“Edward Owens died at Fitzroy Tuesday, March 23rd, 1855 aged 75 years, deeply mourned by his many friends and aquaintances. The deceased was a staunch member of the United Church of England and a worthy member of the Orange Lodge. He was amongst the earliest settlers of the Township and one of three who first celebrate the Anniversary of the Boyne in Fitzroy. His funeral was one of the largest ever witnessed in this part of the country; upwards of 100 sleighs being in attendance.”
