Notes for John OWENS

Marriage date is from Lower Canada Marriage bond (bond #6626, vol. 37, Microfilm reel # C-6787). John was a resident of Fitzroy Township,Carleton County at the time, and Jane was from Nepean, Carleton County.

In the 1842 census for Canada West, John is on Lot 12, Concession 2 in Fitzroy, which he owns. He is listed as a yeoman.

Last name spelled ‘Owen’ in 1851 census (along with his whole family). He is a farmer in Fitzroy,Carleton County, ON.

In the 1851 census, there are several other Owen familys listed from Tipperary, so it looks like a bunch of brothers and sisters (or cousins) came across at the same time. This includes Robert/Ruth Owen and family, and William/Mary A. and family.

In the 1901 census, there is a Robert/Jane family (3 generations) in one household, as well, indicating Robert may have remarried.
