Enlisted in September 1939 for WWII. Was wounded by an exploding personnel mine in Italy in 1943, and spent 3 months in the hospital. He volunteered again, giving up rank as sergeant to become a private again, going through France, Belgium, Holland to Nijmegen in Germany, and was wounded again 2 days before V.E.Day. Returned home in 1945.
