Notes for Martinus “Martin” SATRE


At the time of the 1905 Wisconsin census, he was working as a “Servant” to the Carl J. Johnson family (also from Norway), near his mother’s place.

In the 1910 census, he is living with his mother Martha, sister Marie, and brother Carl (Anders/Andrew had moved to Saskatchewan by this time). he is listed as 25 years old, New Hope, Portage, Wisconsin.

He is shown in the 1930 USA census for Wisconsin as still being in New Hope, Portage County, with his wife and kids. His widowed mother is also living with them.

On April 25, 1942, he registered for World War II. His registration card showed that he had no middle name, was 57 years old, and that his wife Carrie was the contact in case something should happen to him. It shows that there post office was Amherst Junction, Portage County. He is listed as self employed, 5’7” tall, about 125 pounds, light complexion, with gray hair and hazel eyes. His registration card was stamped April 27, 1942.

His US Social Security Death index shows his name as “Martin”.
