Jessie Townend passes in B.C.

Jessie Townend, age 77 years, of Balfour, B.C., passed away Dec. 30, 1991 at Kootenay Lake District Hospital, Nelson, B.C., after a lengthy illness.

Jessie was born in Staffordshire, England and moved to Canada with her family at the age of nine. They settled in Saskatchewan. She married Harold Townsend on March 30, 1933. They farmed in the Clair district and had a family of seven children.

Jessie enjoyed knitting for her family, playing cards with friends and family, travelling and gardening.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1988, infant son in 1958, parents and one brother. She leaves to mourn, three sons, Albert, Ray and Don (Darlene) of Balfour, and three daughters, Marilyn (Otto) Markowski of Margo, Margaret (Bob) Burgess of Ymir, B.C., and Judy (Al) Tessier of Salmo, B.C.; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three sisters and three brothers.

Service of Remembrance was held Saturday, Jan. 4, 1992 in the Anglican Church at Balfour.
