Notes for Thomas Cave BOULTON

From Harold Browne:

“Thomas came to Canada in the 1870’s. One of his relatives (years later) said the folllowing of him:

He was a part of the British army as a member of the Woolsley Expeditionary Force to put down the Red River Rebellion. He was also a scout for the NWMP (North West Mounted Police; pre-cursor to the currently RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police)). He was also part of the International Boundary Commission.”

Thomas, his wife and eldest son (and his younger brother Charles) are living in the Dufferin district of Manitoba in the 1881 census, and he is listed as a farmer. Also living with them are two other people from England, Sarah Stevens (born around 1853), and George Washbourn (born around 1849).

By the 1891 census (where he is in Carleton district of Manitoba), they have 4 children.
