The 1921 census shows him as widowed, and that his father was from Ireland, and his mother from Scotland. He was living in McNab township in Ontario, with his daughter Mary, her husband Irwin (Robert) Boyle, and “head laborer” Thomas Knapton, who had immigrated from England in 1897.
