Was a barber for 13 years, and then became an electrician after moving to Timmins, Ontario. He returned to his childhood hometown of Snow road in 1959 after retiring.

The Marshall family history mentions that he was a Miner in Timmins; not sure if he was an electrician at the mine, or if it was two separate jobs.
