He has a World War I registration card showing that he was working as a farm laborer for Gus McNaught in Calabar. His nearest relative was shown as Charley Russell. It describes him as tall, medium build, gray eyes and black hair. The registration date was September 12, 1918.

Was living in Calabar, Montana at the time of his marriage to Genevieve Dunlap in December of 1918.

They are living in School District 2, Custer County, Montana as of the 1920 census - no children.

By the 1930 census, they are in Umatilla, Oregon. They have one son (James A) living with them, as well as a lodger from Denmark (Jens P Jensen), and James’s uncle John R. Pritchett (his mother’s brother).

By the 1940 census, Jennie has passed away, and it is just James, his son James, and Jensen P. Jensen, who is now his business partner, living in Umatilla, Oregon.
