Isabella had immigrated to Canada around 1912, and Armstrong (and British Columbia) around 1924. At the time of her marriage in 1924, she was a comptometer operator, which is basically a data entry clerk using large mechanical calculators. She was also living in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the time.

She had an appendicitus attack, and surgery for it on September 10, but only survived a few days.
