Samuel was a Hotel Keeper in Comox. He passed away after suffering with Otitis media chronica (a severe middle ear inflammation) for 30 weeks.

Samuel and Florence had 15 children; 10 survived to adulthood (thanks to Alissa Radford for this information). She also mentions that Samuel and Florence were the first white couple married in the Comox Valley, and their first child was the first white child born there as well.
