Her last name is spelled “Rood” on her son Cyrus’ marriage certificate.

In the 1851/1852 census for Fitzroy, Ontario, she is shown as being born in Vermont. The Kansas Trails history book (published in 1910) says that she was a native of Vermont as well. It also says she “was descended from noted ancestry, her great-grandfather on her mother’s side being Governor Belchr, who was sent from England at an early day to be Governor of Vermont.”
