Immigrated to Bytown (Ottawa) in 1825 or 1826. He moved to Eganville in 1843, working as a clerk for James Wadworth (also from Ireland). From 1852-1908, the office of the treasurer of Wilberforce Township was held by Robert, and then his son William James.
