Notes for Leonard C. MCBRATNEY

Leonard, his wife Artemesia, and son John are shown in Storrington township, Ontario in the 1911 censusw (taken June 2, 1911). He is shown as a cheese maker, working in a factory, at the time.

Leonard has his own farm in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan in the 1916 census, next to his brother Clarence’s. He is listed as married, but neither his wife, or his eldest children, are with him at the time. I presume he came out west to help his brother, and returned soon after (his brother and his family moved back to Ontario by 1921 as well). In the 1906 Cartwright, Manitoba census, the entire rest of his family (parents and siblings) is in Cartwright, but Leonard doesn’t show up at any of the prairie provinces at that time.

Leonard, his wife, and 4 daughters are in Loughboro Township, Ontario in the 1921 census. Their first born son John is not, so I presume he passed away by then.
