Notes for Guy Oliver CLARK

Guy moved to British Columbia around 1930 according to his death certficate (which is incorrect, as he and the family show up in the BC census for Vancouver South in 1921). He was the Proprietor for the York Hotel in Vancouver from around 1930 until October of 1955. He passed away from a haemorrhage from a gastric ulcer.

In the 1911 census, Guy and his wife Laura are living with his parents in Vancouver, at 2221 Alberta Street. He is listed as a manager of “Milk Co.” at the time (which was owned by his father).

In the 1921 census, they also had a domestic named Nancy McLauchlan (14 year old girl from Scotland), living with them at the time.

There is a record of the family travelling to Seattle, Washington in either January or February of 1924. Guy is listed as a dairyman on that manifest list. It also shows his father Edmund being from Ottawa, Ontario. Guy and his family were heading for Los Angeles.

They had moved back by the time of their daughter’s death in 1944.
