In the 1930 census, they are living in Dayton Ohio, and have a lodger named Leonard W. Utz (also born in Ohio, around 1873), living with them (census taken April 9, 1930). Ira is listed as a grocery merchant. Since his wife and son are also listed in the grocery business (as salespeople), and his lodger is listed as “clerical and meat cutting”, I am guessing they ran a family grocery store?
By the 1940 census, Ira, his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and grand-daughter are all living in Riverside, Mad River Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. Ira is listed as a grocery store operator. That census also says that as of April 1, 1935, there were still living in Dayton, so they moved within those 5 years.
