LIFE HISTORY FOR ELEANORE JULIG Eleanore Julig, age 91 of Long Prairie, passed away on Thursday evening after over twenty-three years at the Long Prairie Memorial Nursing Home. Eleanore Ernestine Froemming was born on August 28, 1916 in Leaf Valley Township, Douglas County, MN to Robert and Pauline (Linser) Froemming. She was a graduate of Alexandria High School with the class of 1934. She attended the teacher’s college in St. Cloud and taught school at District #53 which was north of Leaf Valley. On June 21, 1938 Eleanore was united in marriage to Carl Julig in Millerville, MN. They farmed for many years in Leaf Valley township and then moved to Willmar and then farmed in Burlene township in the Clotho area. Due to poor health, they moved to the Long Prairie Memorial Nursing Home in the mid-1980’s. Eleanore was a wonderful musician, who enjoyed playing piano and writing and playing her own music. She was a wonderful writer, not only in writing her own poetry but also in writing letters. In this way she stayed in touch with many family members and friends over the years even though she wasn’t able to visit them. She loved nature, watching the birds and working in her flower garden. Another of Eleanore’s talents was watercolor painting. She made many paintings into cards and gifts that she shared with others. During her many years at the Home, Eleanore stayed active and participated in the various activities there. She especially enjoyed doing ceramics and playing bingo. Eleanore is survived by her children, Fred (Rose) Julig of Osakis, Jacqueline (Ronald) Donovan of Spokan, WA, Patrick (Helen) Julig of Sudbury, Ontario, Judy Julig of Minneapolis, Jane Zadmehran of San Francisco, CA, Paul (Beth) Julig of Northpole, AK, and Theresa (Rolfe) Schrader of Dundas, MN; 29 grandchildren; 7 great, grandchildren; a sister, Mabel Geris; son-in-law, David Pence; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1993; a son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Sue Julig and a daughter, Mary Pence; a brother, Melvin Froemming and a sister, Rose Peterson. A Mass of Resurrection was held for Eleanore on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic church in Osakis with Fr. Ralph Zimmerman officiating. Her grandchildren were all included as honorary or active pallbearers, as readers or giftbearers at the liturgy. Interment was at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Cemetery in Millerville, MN. Arrangements were handled by the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.
