Notes for Clara Elizabeth GEMMILL

Her tombstone has the wrong birth year (1907 instead of 1906), compared to her obituary.

Mrs. Clara Gemmill Millar

The community of Snow Road suffered a great loss in the passing of Mrs. Clara Gemmill Millar on August 14th. She was 33 years of age, having been born on November 28, 1906. Most of her life was spent at the home of her parents near Snow Road. Her father is John Gemmill and her mother before marriage was Margaret Purdon. On September 4, 1937, Clara was married to Mr. Ernest Millar and to them was born a little daughter, Marlene. The coming of this little one on May 20th, 1939, brough great joy to the parents. About a year ago Mrs. Millar and her husband established a home for themselves at Snow Road, but owing to her state of health the happy home was soon to be broken. Notwithstanding Mrs. Millar’s resolute spirit she gradually declined. The very best care was given her by kindly and efficient hands during her protracted illness, but her condition was such that he recovery could reasonably be expected, and so, on the 14th of August her gentle spirit passed into rest. She was a loving daughter, a devote wife and a faithful mother. For many years she had been an active and faithful member of the Snow Road church and willingly gave a helping hand in all of the activities of the organization. Her place will not be easy to fill.
