Obituary from March 24, 1977 Perth Courier:

James D. Geddes, of 61 Watts Cres., Kingston, passed away in Kingston General Hospital, Jan 3, 1977 afer an illness of two years.

Jim was born at Snow Road, August 18, 1920, the younger son of the late John and Blanche Geddes. He received his elemetary education at Snow Road, then attended Perth Collegiate Institute, where he took a very active part in sports. After graduating from PCI, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in June, 1942, going overseas in 1943, where he did a tour of duty with the Royal Air Force Bomber Squadron No. 96. He spect a month’s leave in Canada in May, 1944, returning overseas and doing a second tour of duty with the Royal Canadian Air Force, Ghost Squadron No. 428 with the rank of Flying Officer.

He was married to Betty Halford in Sutton Coldfield, England, Jan 13, 1945 and both returned to Canada in the spring of 1945. AFter months of instruction at Boundary Bay, B.C. he return to Ontario and served his pharmacy apprenticeship at Thornbury’s Drug Store in Perth. In 1949 he graduated in pharmacy from Toronto University, and entered the employ of Mahood’s Drug Store in Kingston in 1950, enventually becoming manager.

He was a member of Chalmers United Church, Kingston, the RCAF Association, the Retail Pharmacists Association. He was past president of the Rotary Club of Kingston and the Rotary Kiwanis Minor Hockey Association and chairman of the Hockey Council. For several years he was a member of Cornucopia Lodge, No. 299, IOOF of Snow Road.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, two sons Jim and Don, two daughters Mrs. Bruce Glass (Carole) of Lindsay, and Mrs. Wayne Wood (Judy) of Kingston, one granddaughter Susan Glass, a brother Ralph of Renfrew, and three sisters, Mrs. Rankin Barrie (Kay) of Perth, Mrs. George Robinson (Eileen) and Hilda of Snow Road.

The funeral was held Jan. 5 from the James Reid Funeral Home. Cataraqui, with burial in Crawford’s Cemetery, Elphin. Pallbearers were Joe Foley, Doug Rivoire, Charles Corley, William Earle, John French and Les Yates.
