Super Bustout is one of the first games programmed for the Cocothat came out from Radio Shack. Originally programmed in 1980, it was found to have some minor bugs and changes required... and fixing those made it slightly too big from the ROM size Tandy was willing to use. So it's author Glenn Sogge had to spend some time figuring out how to crunch the code down to fit.
The game actually added a few elements to the standard Brickout style games of the time... you had the option to add
gravity (the ball would curve in arcs, instead of just bouncing straight), and some layout changes. It also allows
you to select the number of balls per game (from 1 to 20), and allows vertical AND horizontal motion of the paddle.
A side note: Glenn remembers that Super Bustout sold about 300,000 copies... this would include the Coco and the
TDP-100, which used to bundle it with the computer.
