The Wizard's Tomb is a king of hybrid text adventure game with some RPG elements, and even throws in some PMODE 3 graphics in at times. The mission in the game is to get treasure from the Wizards's tomb which is in a dungeon. The player starts at the Inn where they can select to have 1 to 4 players in their party, and up to 3 items per player. From there it becomes a text adventure style game but basically with just movement commands, a stats page and the single graphical map which shows the location of the Inn, forest, mountains, lakes and the Wizards tomb/dungeon. This map never changes; it shows the player the relative locations of the types of terrain that they then cross reference with the text descriptions they are getting as they move. There are random attacks from several different monsters to which the player can respond by casting a spell or attacking with weapons. Both options also switch to the graphics screen to do some simple animations before returning to the text screen to show the player the results.

When the player arrives at the Wizard's tomb, a "Dark Little Man" is guarding the tomb. He will give the player the option of either fighting him or bribing him to enter to tomb and it's dungeon. The dungeon has 10 levels and the main treasure is on the 10th level. Attacks from various creatures happen during exploring the dungeon as well, and the rooms are described similar to standard text adventures except that the player just has the 6 main options to choose from (except in special cases during the game will do special prompts as appropriate).
