Timber Man and Timber Man Christmas Edition are Coco 3 versions of the hit iOS, Android and Steam based game of the same name (link at the bottom of the page). It was Paul Thayer's first completely machine language based game, and was originally sold on SD cards with custom color labels at CocoFest. It is now sold as a digital download (which includes things like the full color PDF manual). Paul also released a special free Christmas Edition in 2019; it lets you try the basic game concept, but includes no unlockable characters, and also adds a snowing effect. Links to both are below.
The game is very simple in concept; using the joystick or mouse, jump to the left or right sides of the screen (by pressing the fire button) to chop a piece of the tree away, while avoiding getting hit on the head by the branches. You only have one life, so one hit on the head ends the game. There is also a timer that runs down in between chops; if you run out of time before your next chop, the game also ends. As you progress further in chopping the tree, the timer gets faster and faster, making the game more challenging. The unlockable characters are based on the player reaching certain criteria.
