Z-89 is the Coco 3 "unofficial" version of Zaxxon from the arcades. It's author, Steve Bjork, did the official Datasoft port of the Sega arcade original for the Coco 1/2 in 1982-1983, and this was his vastly improved version for the Coco 3 only. Featuring digital sound effects, vastly improved graphics, and the addition of meteors during the space sequences, this was Steve's showcase title for the Coco 3. There were at least 2 versions released; 1.01 by Game Point Software, and then 1.03 by SRB software itself. You can see the differences between the versions in the screenshots above; the original version had a text loader screen with you're serial #, while the later version had a much more fancy (and animated) graphical splash screen. Game play is pretty well identical to the original Zaxxon, in that you have to fly through two space fortresses (and empty space between them) to destroy the Zaxxon robot that is firing missiles at you and sending enemy planes after you the whole time. You also have avoid obstacles, tanks, missiles, etc. and shoot oil tanks to get more fuel.
